Filming begins on 31st series of Summer Wine

IF you thought the Last Of The Summer Wine had finally run dry, you’d be wrong.

Filming for the 31st series of the world’s longest running sitcom has started in the programme’s one and only hometown, Holmfirth.

Summer Wine devotees had feared the long-standing series had been axed, but six new half-hour episodes were announced in June.

The cast and crew are well into filming in Holmfirth.

Filming in the village is expected to continue until mid-Septmber before the team record indoor scenes at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire.

The first show is expected to air on BBC1 around Christmas.

And fans have been told to expect more of the same recipe which has sustained the BBC1 comedy for what will be 295 episodes.

Christopher Beeny, who plays repo man Herman Teasdale, aka Morton Beemish, said: “They’ve got the same characters. There’s the same familiar themes. It’s about elderly people being stupid.

“There’s only a certain number of keys on a piano. You just have to play them in a different order.
