Mary Creagh welcomes response to free swimming

THOUSANDS of people have enjoyed free swimming in the last few months.

Kirklees Council has offered free sessions to under-16s and over-60s since April as part of a £140m Government scheme.

There have been more than 20,000 free swims in leisure centres in Kirklees.

Wakefield MP Mary Creagh, said: “I am glad to see such a high take-up and I would encourage anyone who hasn’t yet taken up the offer to get down to their local pool.”
