JOBSEEKER Richard Lloyd is so desperate for work he has put himself up for sale on eBay.

Most people use the auction website to buy and sell clothes, toys, electrical goods and other possessions.

But former casino boss and pub landlord Richard has placed an advert for himself on the site.

It offers employers the chance to ‘hire an outstanding employee for a month’ and says he will consider ‘virtually any work, anywhere.’

Mr Lloyd, of Golcar, came up with the novel approach after a fruitless six-month search for a job.

The 43-year-old said: “I did all the usual stuff, like signing up with recruitment agencies and going to the job centre and I wasn’t having any joy.

“I went for a job as a traffic warden in Brighouse. There were 380 applicants in one day. Things are crazy at the moment.

“Then I was having a brainstorming session with my partner, who’s a human resources manager.

“I thought putting myself on eBay might help put me one notch in front of everyone else.”

Mr Lloyd was general manager of Grosvenor casino at Folly Hall for 15 years.

He spent two years in joint charge of the Grey Horse on Halifax Road in Birchencliffe and ploughed £60,000 into the business.

But he left in February because of declining trade and has not worked since.

“At the moment I’m looking for absolutely anything,” he said.

“Having gone from earning about £60,000 a year, I’m surviving on £60 a week jobseekers’ allowance and most of that is going on petrol to get to and from interviews.

“I’m applying for minimum wage stuff, but just getting nowhere.”

Mr Lloyd’s advert says he will work for £1,999 a month.

It says he is an experienced business manager and administrator with experience in sales, finance, leisure, catering, gaming and hospitality.

It adds: “I enjoy working to and exceeding targets and cope well with pressure situations, remaining calm, rational and collected at all times.

“I am creative, innovative and effective and have immense energy, enthusiasm and motivation that I am able to impart to all employees within a business.”

It adds: “I am based in Huddersfield and happy to commute in the short term and relocate completely for the right position with the right company.”

Mr Lloyd said he had not had any offers so far.

He added: “There are times when I think ‘am I ever going to get a job?’

“But I’m a positive person and have to keep thinking that something will come along.”
