A 55-YEAR-OLD cyclist hurt in a mountain bike ride in Holmfirth has died.

The unnamed cyclist died in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, 10 days after the accident.

The man, who is from Bradford, was taking part in the Holme Valley Mountain Bike Challenge on Sunday, September 13.

He was among 400 cyclists taking part in the event organised by Holmfirth Scouts.

The man suffered a fractured skull after his bike hit a wall on Highgate at the junction with Washpit New Road.
