Anti-social crime is police target in Denby Dale and Kirkburton

A POLICE crackdown on anti-social behaviour is being launched today. (October 12).

The two-day initiative – named Operation Focus – will see crime hotspots in Kirkburton and Denby Dale targeted by officers.

Their aim is to reduce the number of anti-social behaviour incidents in the areas and bring the culprits to justice.

PC Pete Shields, of Kirkburton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We will be looking at anti-social behaviour hot spots and targeting offenders.

"Anti-social behaviour is one of the priorities set by local people and we will be looking at tackling it in all its different forms.

"Throughout September we received calls from the public concerned about off road motorcycles and the damage they had caused in the area.

"On September 19 four riders were given warnings about the anti-social use of their bikes and one bike was seized.

"During this operation we will again be paying particular attention to such issues."

The operation sees neighbourhood policing team officers working with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, Safer Stronger Communities Kirklees, Community Rangers, Environmental Services, Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, Kirklees Parking Enforcement Officers and Kirklees Dog Wardens.
