Crosland Moor majorettes in world championship bid

There the team will compete in rounds with groups of about 20.

Each round will see a troupe knocked out until a final showdown between the remaining groups

And while cheering and baton twirling is a big thing Stateside, Mr Beeby believes his group are in with a fighting chance of taking home the crown.

He said: “The Americans especially are very big on this kind of thing but our dancing is a lot more intense and structured than what they do over there.

“We’ve already represented Huddersfield for Great Britain so to get the opportunity to represent Great Britain for the world title is a massive achievement anyway.

“It would be one of the biggest challenges in the world to win it but we really believe we can do it – we are going out there to win!

The team have already raised £23,000 towards the cost of their trip, through sponsorship by local businesses.

They are still looking to raise funds to help cover expenses while they are out there – including food and uniforms.
