Sabira Alam murder trial: Fibres found on accused and victim matched
Oct 14 2009 By Huddersfield Examiner
Miss Warnakulasuriya said fibres found on the jacket were in keeping with fibres recovered from Miss Alam’s wrists and neck.
She said the fibre fragments found on the scissors were in keeping with them having been used to cut the bindings from Miss Alam.
The court heard that a blood mark on the scissors could also have been Miss Alam’s.
During cross-examination by Naeem’s barrister, Miss Warnakulasuriya confirmed that no blood had been found on his jacket and intimate samples were consistent with Naeem’s account that he had had sex with Miss Alam four days before her body was discovered.
Naeem told police that he had last seen Miss Alam when he dropped her off near her parents’ home.
The prosecution allege that Naeem was jealous and possessive and strangled Miss Alam.
The trial continues.
