Sabira Alam murder trial: ‘Jealous’ notes written by suspect Naveed Naeem

DISTURBING messages about a mystery woman were found in a notebook belonging to a man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend, a court heard.

Police believe the notes showed Naveed Naeem, 30, jealously stalked 20-year-old Sabira Alam before killing her.

The body of Miss Alam, of Vernon Avenue, Greenhead, was discovered on moorland at Buckstones on April 5.

Naeem is accused of strangling the former Salendine Nook High School student after she broke up with him because of his jealous and obsessive behaviour.

A jury at Bradford Crown Court heard the notebook was discovered in a search of Naeem’s house at New Street, Milnsbridge.

It contained several references to an unnamed woman.

One message said: “Always I catch her out scanning the next man”

Another said: “Looks like she’s interested in shoe shop guy, but making out like she is not. Is she playing us off each other?”

Other notes included: “Acted funny when I mentioned body shimmer”; “Acted funny, like someone was there”; and “Mysteriously reappeared after a few nights. Said I couldn’t go around.”

There were also several sexually explicit messages suggesting Naeem was jealous about the actions of the mystery woman.

In police interviews Naeem claimed some of the notes were about his sister, who was refusing to come home from York.

He said he could not remember who the others were about, but none was anything to do with Miss Alam.
