Kids to be asked to design Greenhead Park play area

A NEW play area is on the way for Greenhead Park.

And kids will be given the chance to say what should be included.

The latest play equipment is set to be installed in the multi-million pound revamp of Huddersfield’s biggest park.

Council officers will work with local schools and youth groups to ask what should be included in the playground.

The exact location of the new play area will be determined in the talks over what to include.

The scheme means the existing playground will be out of action from the beginning of next month.

Kirklees Council officials plan to create a temporary play area to let families enjoy the park during the work.

The restoration of Greenhead Park is now in its fourth month and the latest phase will see workmen move on to the main grassed arena.

A council spokesman said: “The significant programme of work to be carried out in that area necessitates the closure of the play area.

“But the good news is that, because of its popularity, the closure won’t be until after half-term and a temporary play area will be created nearby.”

The current play area will be closed from Monday November 2 and all the play equipment and seats removed.
