Fundraising tribute for father and son Michael Colley and Philip

A HOSPICE fundraiser is being held in memory of a father and son.

Michael Colley, from Almondbury, died from a brain tumour 10 years ago when he was 56 and his 24-year-old son, Philip, died suddenly 20 years ago.

Michael, a wholesale florist, was cared for in Kirkwood Hospice, Dalton, during his final days.

His daughter, Sharron, has now organised a special night to remember her father and brother – and also give other people a chance to remember anyone they have lost.

The money raised is destined for Kirkwood Hospice.

The Freaks and Flares event will be at Paparazzi above the Rock Cafe in Huddersfield town centre from 7.30pm on Friday.

Sharron, 37, an outreach and development worker for Voluntary Action Kirklees, said: “My dad was managing director for Huddersfield firm Bletchers flowers and so we thought we could turn the occasion into a chance for people to remember loved ones they have lost, no matter how many years ago.’’
