Burglars steal pregnant woman’s car and drive at half-naked husband
BURGLARS stole a heavily-pregnant woman’s car – and then drove at her husband as he chased the thieves in his underpants.
The raiders stole hairdresser Lorna Pearson’s Ford Focus after breaking into their Elland house and snatching the keys from her handbag at around 4am on Thursday.
Lorna, who is due to give birth in four weeks, and her husband John were awoken by creaking floorboards at their home on High Bank Close.
The couple got out of bed to find raiders in their house.
The raiders had climbed the stairs to the first floor having broken in by smashing locks on the back door.
John, who is an electrician at Genco Electrical Projects, Huddersfield, got out of bed and chased the thieves down the street in his underpants.
But Mr Pearson, 30, had to jump out of the way as one burglar drove at him in a getaway car.
And a few seconds later Mr Pearson had to leap out of the way again as another thief sped towards him in his wife’s car after striking a parked Ford Fiesta.
Police believe the car, a 150mph Focus ST, was stolen to order.
