TUES PM: Huddersfield burglars jailed for total of seven years

A PAIR of Huddersfield burglars have been jailed for a total of seven years.

Durrell Simmonds of Aquamarine Drive, Fartown, was sentenced to four year in prison at Bradford Crown Court yesterday following a string of burglaries in Huddersfield.

He was charged with offences which occurred at Long Lane, Foxlow Avenue in Rawthorpe and Stile Common Road with tow days of each other in August.

At all three burglaries, property including electrical items, purses and handbags were stolen.

Detective Inspector Richard Holmes said: "Simmonds can only be described as prolific in the way in which he targeted addresses where doors and windows had been left insecure. With this in mind, I would like to reiterate to residents how vitally important it is to keep doors and windows locked even when you are at home."

Elsewhere, in a separate case, Michael McDonnell, 37, of Barcroft Road, Newsome was been sentenced to three years and four months.

He appeared before Bradford Crown Court to be sentenced for a burglary in Newsome in July.
