He added: “TV is all rubbish these days. I can’t watch it anymore and see all these talentless people being exploited.”
But wife Debbie, 51, who has appeared on celebrity X Factor and Wife Swap with her husband, said she would continue her TV work and was appearing on BBC1 game show Hole In The Wall tomorrow.
Mr Haigh, whose sausages have won a host of awards over the years, said the secret of his success was combining quality ingredients with years of experience.
He said: “It’s fantastic to win and see that what we do is recognised as something good.
“Where a lot of people fail in my opinion is that they will do something special for the competition but they won’t carry it through to their business.
“We do ours for our business and believe me, it does work.

“We want to be better quality than the supermarkets – it’s the only way we will survive.”
Mr Haigh said the new farm shop on Bolster Moor Road would open soon.
