THE FAMILY of a toddler tragically killed in a road accident have been left grief-stricken after flowers and cuddly toys were removed from her memorial.
Two-year-old Olivia Feasey, known as Livvy, died when she was hit by a car on Bradford Road, Brighouse, on April 26 after a family trip to Wellholme Park.
A shrine to the little girl, next to the spot where she died, has been lovingly maintained by passersby who have been leaving flowers and cuddly toys on the site.
But Livvy’s mother Hayley, 28, and father Mark, 34, were left devastated last night when they discovered all but a cuddly toy rabbit had been removed.
The first the Bailiff Bridge couple – who have a baby son, Addison – knew of the shocking news was when they were watching regional TV programme ITV Calendar.
A spokesman for Calderdale Council said it was unclear who had taken the items from Livvy’s memorial, but said they would not remove such items from memorials.
On the same day Calderdale Council councillors met to decide guidelines for roadside memorials.
Livvy’s aunt Adelle Mollet, 26, says her sister Hayley and brother-in-law Mark struggle from day to day to cope with their loss.
Now Miss Mollet, of Rastrick, and her family have now put fresh flowers and others tributes back on the site and vowed to maintain the memorial.
Miss Mollet, a mother-of-two, said: “I have to look into my sister’s eyes every day and know I can’t bring her daughter back.
“It’s the community putting the flowers there.
“Hayley won’t even go down Bradford Road anymore.
