Thousands of people support charity at this weekend’s bonfire and firework displays

“I’ve been involved for four years and we’ve never had a bad night.

“It was a tremendous night.

Holmfirth Rotary Club chairman Don Wilkinson added: “It was very successful this year even though the weather wasn’t brilliant.

“We had a great turnout and it’s one of the best we’ve had.”

Around 700 people also came to the annual Huddersfield Police Sports and Social Club bonfire and firework display at Woodfield Park Police Cricket Club, Lockwood on Saturday night.

They gave thanks to Pyro 2000, Arrow Hire, Hi-Tech Glazing, Mal Goodall, Ken Bates, Carl Pearson, Clive Swindell and Mike Funnell.
