SNOOKER fanatics Ryan Waterworth and Richard Walker pocketed more than £1,000 for a young cancer sufferer.

The two players held a snooker marathon at Broad Oak Bowling Club in Linthwaite for Ryan’s nephew, Ruddi Waterworth-Jones.

They started playing at 7pm on Sunday.

Twenty-four hours, 86 frames and 1,892 balls later they finished the epic match, with Ryan emerging victorious by 65 frames to 21.

The match was overseen by Adam Howlett.

The money will go to the family of one-year-old Ruddi, of Dale View in Longwood.

He is the youngest person on record to have been diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer of the soft tissue on the prostate.

His family is now waiting to find out if he will be given the go-ahead to go to Boston in the USA for an intensive seven-week course of advanced proton radiotherapy.
