Lindley Nordic skiing star Fiona Hughes in big victory with unusual prize

LINDLEY Nordic skier Fiona Hughes moved closer to the Olympics and picked up an unusual prize following a victory in Scandinavia.

The 19-year-old won a hamper containing cheese, sausage and smoked reindeer meat for winning the cross-country skiing contest.

Miss Hughes claimed victory in a junior freestyle 10-kilometres race in Bruksvallarna, Sweden.

The former Greenhead College student is on the cusp of attaining the qualification standard for Vancouver 2010.
