Axe raid on Halifax bank in Heckmondwike

ROBBERS armed with an axe and sledgehammers raided a bank.

The three forced their way into Halifax bank on Westgate in Heckmondwike and threatened two security guards who were filling a cash machine.

They took a large amount of money before fleeing.

Nobody was injured during the robbery, which happened at 8.30pm on Tuesday.

The robbers drove off in a dark Subaru Impreza with the fake registration VV05 ELY. The car was abandoned in Grovesenor Street in Heckmondwike.
