Greenhead Park’s new play area in knee-deep mud - picture

A NEW play area in Greenhead Park has been left a muddy mess.

Gleaming new play equipment has been left standing in a sea of mud and water – with the old playground out of action.

Now a mum has spoken out after a family trip to play on the swings ended up being a dreadful let-down.

Anne-Marie Senior went down to Greenhead Park play area with her husband Nigel, three-year-old Evie and 18-month-old Matilda.

But the Birkby mum-of-two discovered there was no way the family could get anywhere near the play area without getting covered in mud.

She said: “The mud is knee-high and it looked as if a tractor had waded through it.

“The temporary playground actually had better stuff than the old playground and the kids were getting excited when they saw it.

“But there’s no way the children could have used it.”

With the restoration of Greenhead Park still underway, the play area was closed for refurbishment on November 2.

All the equipment and seats were removed and a temporary play area set up near to the original site.

The temporary play area has swings, a climbing frame, slides, spinners and springies.
