“WE just want our Steven home.”
This anguished appeal today came from the family of missing man Steven Cooper at the launch of a huge new appeal to trace him.
The face of Steven, 47, is to appear on 13.5m milk cartons across the country from next week.
The appeal – backed by the charity Missing People – is one of the biggest-ever campaigns to trace a missing person.
Steven’s sister, Tricia Cooper, 41, of New Mill, said: “The charity has been helping us to keep the search alive since Steven’s disappearance.
“We hope that this campaign will encourage the public to join the search for him by spreading the word and keeping a look-out for him.
“The family has been living in limbo during the last 22 months.
“With the festive season fast approaching, we are facing the grim prospect of another Christmas without him.
“Christmas was always special for us. Steven would pick me up and we’d go to the pub for a drink before going to my mum Margaret’s home for a lovely Christmas lunch.
“I just don’t feel interested in it any more without him.
“We are so lucky the charity has agreed to help us in such a fantastic way.
“We just want our Steven home.”
Steven, who suffers from genetic disorder Marfarn’s syndrome, which can affect the heart, has been missing from his Golcar home since January 20, 2008.
