Dog walker falls down cliff on Hawkroyd Bank in Netherton

A MAN fell down a rock face after trying to catch his dog when it had run off.

The man, in his 50s, was walking along Hawkroyd Bank in Netherton, yesterday afternoon when he slipped on the mud.

He landed on a ledge, 30 feet above the river Holme. Fire crews from Huddersfield, Elland and Marsden attended the scene.

The firefighters lowered crew manager Steve Mosley down, who grabbed the stranded man and then the two were pulled back up to safety.

The dog walker did not suffer any major injuries.
