Police arrest 32 and seize £10,000 of heroin and cocaine in raids

Yesterday’s swoops, the last of the week, included properties at Parkstone, Bradley; North Street, Lockwood; Clara Street, Fartown; Lonsbrough Flats near Huddersfield town centre; Stoney Lane, Taylor Hill; Brown Royd Avenue, Rawthorpe and Scott Vale in Sheepridge.

The Examiner accompanied police on one of the raids on a flat at Browning Road in Deighton.

Armed with entry and search warrants, they used a specialist ram to smash down the door while the suspect slept upstairs.

The 22-year-old put up little resistance as he was handcuffed and spoken to in the house.

Police then searched the house for evidence of drug dealing, weapons and proceeds of crime.

Workers from the drugs offender management unit also paid a visit. They offer help for users and dealers who want to get out of the cycle of criminal behaviour.

The man was arrested and taken to Huddersfield Police Station to be interviewed.

Police will now examine the evidence against all the suspects arrested before deciding on charges.
