No smoke alarm fitted at Dewsbury fire home
Dec 5 2009 by Joanne Douglas, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
A WOMAN left a pan of food which caught fire at her Dewsbury home.
She managed to get to safety but fire crews said there was no smoke alarm fitted in the property.
The fire happened at a house on West Park Street, Dewsbury, at 9.15am yesterday.
Crew manager Luke Wilson said: “We need to reiterate how dangerous it is not having a smoke alarm fitted.
“She phoned us as soon as she spotted it but there was quite a bit of smoke damage.”
The woman was unhurt by the incident.
Firefighters were at the scene for nearly two hours.
