Father of missing chef Claudia Lawrence brings search to Huddersfield

THE father of missing chef Claudia Lawrence hopes a new series of posters in Huddersfield can provide a “miracle”.

Claudia Lawrence, 35, disappeared on the way home from her shift at York University at 2pm on Wednesday, March 18.

Nine months on her father, Peter Lawrence, 63, a solicitor from Malton, hopes that posters in Huddersfield Station will jog the memories of anyone who saw his daughter, a frequent user of the TransPennine line.

He told the Examiner: “It’s going to be extremely difficult for the family as Christmas approaches. We have had Claudia with us for 35 years and this year, barring a miracle, she won’t be there.

“We are widening the search because she could be anywhere.

“We have been postering stations up and down the East Coast main line and with the help of TransPennine Express we have been to Malton, Stalybridge and Huddersfield.

“Everybody we’ve met here has been very supportive. Many people know that Claudia is missing and they’re eager to talk to us.

“There are large posters at quite a lot of stations and in retail outlets.

“Claudia lived in York and had friends in various parts of the country and in Manchester which is why we are travelling to different areas.
