TUES AM: M62 hit by 12 mile tailbacks due to roadwork cones
FOG and roadworks brought chaos to the M62 today.
A combination of the two caused huge holdups for drivers heading west towards Greater Manchester.
At one point, there were queues of more than 12 miles, stretching from Junction 23 at Outlane back to Junction 28 at Tingley.
Feeder roads to the motorway around the Chain Bar interchange at Junction 26 were also badly hit.
The Highways Agency said two lanes, closed overnight for roadworks, had remained closed this morning because the thick fog meant it was too dangerous for workmen to remove the cones.
