HUNDREDS of shoppers and office workers joined together for a Christmas carol service at Huddersfield parish church.
The pews were packed for the annual lunchtime service, organised by the Huddersfield Society of Chartered Accountants.
The service was conducted by the Rev Canon Catherine Ogle, vicar of Huddersfield, and attended by guest including the Mayor of Kirklees Clr Julie Stewart-Turner, her consort Darrel Turner and Society president Andrew Rogers.
The hour-long service featured Colne Valley Male Voice Choir and West Riding Brass.
Mr Rogers said: “We really appreciate the time and support these busy musicians give to our service.”
During the service, a collection was held for the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, which is raising money for The Mission Cafe and the Welcome Centre in Huddersfield as well as Care Dewsbury and Daybreak (Dewsbury).
The mayor said all four organisations helped people in crisis – and were experiencing a rapid growth in demand for their services.
