A JURY has been shown secretly-filmed CCTV footage of an alleged burglar who is accused of searching the Brockholes home of a vulnerable 66-year-old woman.
The 30-minute recording was captured on CCTV equipment which had been installed in the back-to-back cottage by the complainant's concerned son after she was the victim of a previous incident, Bradford Crown Court heard yesterday.
Polish national Adrian Sadowski, 23, of Quarry Close, Brockholes, has admitted being the man caught on camera in the woman's home last August, but he has gone on trial after denying a charge of burglary with intent to steal.
Prosecutor Martin Robertshaw told the jury that the woman's son had installed the hidden camera because his mother lived alone at the property and owing to her general vulnerability.
Mr Robertshaw alleged that the CCTV recording showed Sadowski looking through various drawers in the front room of the property while the elderly woman, who walks with the aid of a Zimmer frame, was outside near the front door.
At one stage the woman spoke to her son on the telephone and revealed to him that there was a man in her home.
Sadowski also spoke to the woman's son on the phone, but he became suspicious about his presence in the property.
The son drove round to his mother's home, but by the time he arrived Sadowski had left.
The CCTV recording was handed over to the police and when Sadowski was arrested he initially claimed to have been at home that day.
