General Election count through night in Kirklees
Jan 28 2010 Huddersfield Daily Examiner
GENERAL election votes will be counted during the night for all four Kirklees parliamentary seats – but all the counts will be in Huddersfield this year.
Returning officer and chief executive of Kirklees Council Rob Vincent said the count would begin as soon as possible after the polls close.
But results for Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley and Spen and Colne Valley are unlikely to be called until around 5am on Friday.
All four of the constituencies will be counted in Huddersfield to allow a quicker count, Mr Vincent said.
Three counts will take place at Huddersfield Sports Centre, Southgate, and one at Huddersfield Town Hall.
This means none will be held in Dewsbury or other town halls in Kirklees.
