Huddersfield American Football fans set for Superbowl Sunday

AMERICAN Football fans across Huddersfield are gearing up for the biggest sporting event in the US.

Superbowl XLIV – the annual American Football season finale – takes place tomorrow night.

The sport has gripped thousands of Brits after being screened by Channel 4 in the Eighties.

And fans will be preparing their snacks for the 11pm kick-off on Sunday night.

The game, between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts, is one of the biggest sports events in the world.

And this year’s 44th Superbowl, in Miami, Florida, includes a half-time show by rock legends The Who.

More than 5,000 miles away, on the west coast of America, former Skelmanthorpe family the Lennons will be joining in the fun.

Ian and Virginia Lennon met while working at Cambourne Fabrics in Hopton, Mirfield.

They emigrated to the United States 10-years-ago to join Virginia’s family.

Ian’s daughter Natalie joined them soon afterwards and is now married to an American and has a two-year-old son.
