A CHINESE takeaway that has been dogged by problems was shut by police in a massive licensing crackdown.
And a nightclub on the same street could be in trouble after revellers were allegedly caught smoking inside.
88 Noodle Bar, on Cross Church Street, was ordered to close after it was found not be employing doorstaff.
As a condition of late-night opening on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, the takeaway has to have door security.
The alleged breach was found as Huddersfield police and Kirklees Council licensing officers staged a major inquiry into several premises on Friday and Saturday.
Pc Lisa Harley, who told staff at 88 Noodle Bar to shut up shop after finding there was no-one on the doors, said: “They have breached the licence on several occasions and there are always excuses.
“I spoke to one of the girls and she told me they weren’t serving, but I had just seen her serve a customer and told her they had to close.”
The takeaway would be allowed to reopen as soon as it had qualified doorstaff, Pc Harley said.
88 Noodle Bar was at the centre of a police investigation last month when thousands of pounds worth of cash, identification documents and suspected counterfeit jewellery were seized from the premises.
