It followed four arrests and the confiscation of thousands of pounds worth of suspected counterfeit cigarettes in a raid on Lower Fitzwilliam Street near the town centre.
Three men, aged 21, 35 and 50, along with a 41-year-old woman, were arrested on suspicion of evading excise duty. The 21-year-old and 35-year-old were then further arrested on suspicion of immigration offences. All four were thought to have worked at the takeaway.
Meanwhile, bosses at The Flying Circus bar on Cross Church Street will be interviewed by Kirklees Council’s environmental services department after customers were allegedly found smoking indoors.
They were given a verbal warning after an unannounced visit on Friday night.
Tracy Bousfield, senior manager at environmental services, said: “Smoke-free legislation has been in place for some time and, while the vast majority of premises are completely within the law, when environmental services becomes aware of one that isn’t, we will not hesitate to take action and in some cases prosecute.”
The visits to 88 Noodle Bar and Flying Circus were part of spot-checks by police, licensing officials and environmental health officers on Friday.
Clr John Cook, who holds responsibility for community safety for the Conservative group, joined the patrol.
He said: “It was a very successful operation and is part of our efforts to keep the streets and premises of Huddersfield safe and trouble-free.”
