Florist celebrates industry nod

A HUDDERSFIELD florist is bloomin’ proud after receiving a top industry accolade.
Alisa Devlin, who runs the La Fleur Floral and Bridal shop on Northumberland Street, has been included in this year’s The Good Florist Guide.
The guide is a directory of the country’s leading florists and Alisa is one of only a handful of West Yorkshire florists to meet the exacting criteria.
This achievement is the icing on the cake for Alisa, who opened her shop less than two years ago.
She gave up a high-profile international role in the textile industry to fulfil a long-held ambition to open her own floral and bridal gown business.
Alisa said: “I am delighted to be included in the Good Florist Guide for 2010.
“Floristry is very competitive so to be recognised in a relatively short period of time by one of the industry’s standards is a considerable achievement.”
Despite having to cope with a difficult trading year, Alisa’s business is going from strength to strength.
As well as continuing to establish the shop’s reputation she is now working towards becoming a master florist.
