Arrest over death of Adam O’Toole on New Hey Road, Salendine Nook
It was 10.30am on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, and Adam, who lived with his mum Beverley in Holmbridge, later died from his injuries.
The Huddersfield New College student’s family has campaigned tirelessly for nearly three years to find the driver of the car.
Adam’s mum Beverley O’Toole has at points almost given up hope of there ever being an arrest but has persisted in her long campaign.
In June last year she made an emotional plea on BBC One’s Crimewatch Roadshow programme for help from the public.
Girlfriend Laura has spoken on radio.
Adam’s friends from Huddersfield New College took to the streets to hand out e-fits of the hit-and-run driver in an attempt to track him down.
Friends and family have printed T-shirts and posters, created Facebook groups and done anything they can to keep the campaign in the public eye.
Popular Adam has been well-remembered at his former college with events and memorial services.
The 18-year-old was a promising pupil who was studying for a BTec National Diploma in sports studies.
He hoped to go on to university in Leeds to study sports.
He was also a highly-regarded Huddersfield Rugby Union Club junior winger and academy player, who had trials for Yorkshire.
