ST George is to do battle with fire-breathing dragons in Kirklees later this month.
It’s a spectacular finale planned for Spirit – the outdoor festival returning to Dewsbury with fire-breathing dragons.
Kirklees Council has confirmed the annual free outdoor show will be staged on Friday, February 26, from 7pm.
Mechanical dragons as tall as double-decker buses will rampage through the town centre, breathing fire and entertaining crowds before their final encounter with the dragon slayer in front of Dewsbury Town Hall.
This year’s show is performed by the Spanish street theatre company, Sarruga, who have taken their magical shows starring mythical mechanical monsters all over the world.
Clr David Sheard, Cabinet member for regeneration in North Kirklees said: “Last year 5,000 people came to Dewsbury to watch international acrobats, Grupo Puja, and I’m expecting this year’s event to be just as popular.
