TIME is now fast running out to grab a share of a £50,000 community cash bonanza.
The deadline for groups to apply for up to £900 was extended by a week and comes to an end this Saturday.
Over the last few weeks we have highlighted the groups to benefit from the cash from last year’s cash giveaway which totalled £30,000.
One of those was Huddersfield and District Pensioners Organisation.
The small group based at the St Patrick’s Centre in Huddersfield town centre received £500 – and used that to boost its membership.
It meant they could afford to host a meeting at Huddersfield Town Hall for the Yorkshire Pensioners Commission, attended by delegates from across Yorkshire.
Huddersfield and District Pensioners Organisation chairman Noreen Logan said: “Without the money we wouldn’t have been able to campaign and travel to as many group meetings as we have.
“The money really helped us to create awareness of our group through advertising. We have seen a rise in member numbers by at least 25%.”
