Ex-miner from Outlane died of industrial disease

AN EX-COAL miner died from lung disease, an inquest heard.

Jeffrey Turner, 80, had worked at the coalface in various pits for more than 40 years, Huddersfield Coroner’s Court heard.

He was taken from home at Rockingstones Farm, Outlane, to hospital on October 26 suffering from shortness of breath, a fever and chest pains, but he failed to respond to antibiotics and died eight days later.

Coroner Roger Whittaker recorded a verdict of death from an industrial disease.
