A MARTIAL arts duo struck a chord with visitors to a family fun day in Thongsbridge.

Liam Richards and Danny Ball, better known as Strike, appeared at the sports-themed Bank Holiday event to raise money for charity.

The Britain’s Got Talent finalists showed youngsters some martial arts moves before performing their show-stopping TV routine for the delighted crowd.

The day also featured a circus skills workshop, tennis, cricket and bowling tournaments and a fundraiser with former Derbyshire cricketer Glenn Roberts.

The event at Thongsbridge Tennis Club raised over £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

It was started three years ago by Jason Brook in memory of his sister-in-law Rosie Bellamy who died from cancer 10 years ago.

A trophy given to the winner of the cricket tournament was in the 23-year-old’s name.

Jason said: “We’ve done this event for a few years but this year wanted something bigger and better as a fitting way to mark the 10 years since Rosie died.

“It was an absolutely fantastic day and everybody went home with a smile on their faces.”
