Hit musical for Huddersfield composer Geraldine Connor

SHE’S the Huddersfield musician, singer and composer who brought us Carnival Messiah.

Now Geraldine Connor, of Skelmanthorpe, is bringing another hit show to Yorkshire.

She is part of the creative team behind a hugely-successful Caribbean musical.

The Harder They Come is based on the iconic 1970s film that brought reggae music to the world and launched the career of legend Jimmy Cliff.

Now it is coming to West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds next month.

It will be performed by an all-Jamaican cast, having been created by a Caribbean team, including Connor and Dawn Reid, who directed the original production. It is tipped to take Yorkshire by storm.

The show has already played to sell-out audiences in the West End, Toronto and Miami.

It features massive reggae hits such as You Can Get It If You Really Want It, Rivers Of Babylon and The Harder They Come.

The show tells the story of a country boy who makes for the bright lights of Kingston, Jamaica, with high hopes of becoming a reggae star.
