ARSONISTS set fire to a Citroen Picasso in Dalton last night.

The vehicle was parked outside a home on Cross Fields when thugs broke a window and started the blaze.

Huddersfield fire fighters were called just before midnight.

Whilst at the scene, the car’s handbrake snapped and the burning vehicle started rolling down the hill towards the fire engine.

A quick-thinking firefighter threw a large stone into its path to halt the fireball.

It took fire crews 30 minutes to extinguish the flames. Police are investigating.
