Fire engine catches fire in Newsome

FIREFIGHTERS had to put their own fire engine out after it caught light as they dealt with another incident.
An electrical fault under the dashboard caused the vehicle to catch fire in Newsome. The crew had been called out to Tunnacliffe Road after a fire on a grass bank was reported at about 7.10pm. While there fire started in the cab. Both incidents were brought under control but the fire engine had to be towed away by a recovery vehicle.
