Colne Bridge residents demand action as road rules flouted

RESIDENTS plagued by traffic problems on a Dalton road say: “Enough is enough”.

People living on Dalton Bank Road in Colne Bridge say it’s all they talk about.

The narrow road linking the village with Huddersfield is a popular route for drivers trying to avoid Leeds Road.

But residents say many motorists are behaving recklessly and articulated lorry drivers are continuing to use the short cut despite being banned from the lane.

Howard Thacker, whose house is on the road, said: “A lot of the houses are back-to-back and parking can be a problem, but we usually sort it out among ourselves.

“But the thing we can’t do anything about it are the speeds people go at along our section of the road.

“I saw one lad coming down here and he must have been going at 60mph. It’s a 30mph road ,but no one goes at that speed, it’s always faster.

“And because it’s so narrow they’re trying to squeeze past the cars and a lot of them have been hit.
