FINAL countdown preparations are well underway for the West Yorkshire Youth Games.
Almost 1,000 children from Kirklees, Calderdale, Bradford and Leeds will gather to compete in West Yorkshire Sport's twelfth annual youth games at Leeds Carnegie on Saturday, June 26.
They have already won the honour of representing their schools and districts in a day of competition across ten sports; athletics, boccia, new age kurling, rugby league, tennis, badminton, gymnastics, cheerleading, cricket and netball.
The journey to Youth Games began in January when thousands of young athletes of all abilities - aged between six and sixteen - entered their school competitions. Knockout procedures and selection processes are led by the National Governing Bodies for sport.
Huddersfield Town Football Club and Leeds Rhinos Rugby League Club are among the sponsors.
Huddersfield Town ambassador Andy Booth said: “Competition is a healthy way to give young people focus and commitment while teaching them the benefits of fair play”.
