Missing Bradford prostitute Shelley Armitage dreamed of modelling career

FORMER Huddersfield prostitute Shelley Armitage dreamed of one day becoming a model.

The 31-year-old is one of three women, all working as prostitutes in Bradford, who are thought to have been murdered.

Stephen Griffiths, 40, has been charged with the murders of all three women.

He last week announced himself in court as “The Crossbow Cannibal.”

Remains of the body of 36-year-old Suzanne Blamires have already been recovered from the River Aire in Shipley.

Police are still searching for the bodies of Ms Armitage and 43-year-old Susan Rushworth.

Now a friend has revealed Ms Armitage, who worked in Huddersfield last year, aspired to a glamorous lifestyle before drink and drugs took over her life.

Lynsey Barron, 31, became best friends with Ms Armitage after they met as teenagers at St Joseph’s College in Bradford.

She said: “There was potential there and Shelley could have been a beautiful model.

“We both started drugs but Shelley never managed to get out of that spiral.”

Ms Armitage disappeared at the end of April.

She has missed two court appearances and has not used her mobile phone or claimed her benefits since.
