Dewsbury MP concerned about closure of Clayton West Post Office

AN MP is demanding answers after a village post office closure was announced.

Clayton West Post Office will shut temporarily from June 30 following the resignation of the sub-postmaster.

Dewsbury MP Simon Reevell wants to know what will happen to postal services in the village.

The Post Office confirmed the closure last week and urged customers to use offices in other villages including Scissett Post Office at Wakefield Road, Skelmanthorpe Post Office at Commercial Road or Denby Dale Post Office at Wakefield Road.

The Conservative said: “It’s always a blow to local residents when a post office branch is forced to close. For those without access to private transport it is especially difficult.

“It’s important that the Post Office does everything in its power to provide Clayton West with a decent postal service in the future.”

Mr Reevell has written to the Post Office outlining his concerns.
