Birkby Junior School marks 100th anniversary
A HUDDERSFIELD school has marked its centenary.
Pupils and teachers held a series of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone at Birkby Infant and Nursery School.
Mick Kirby-Geddes created a set of centenary gates for the playground to mark the anniversary. The gates, which were designed by the pupils, include rainbows, butterflies and smiling faces.
The school also had a Victorian theme day to celebrate the centenary, with teachers wearing period dress.
The whole school took part in a celebration in the playground which included singing, dancing, music and a mass balloon launch.
