Breastfeeding awareness week in Kirklees
Jul 3 2010 Huddersfield Daily Examiner
HEALTH professionals gave advice to mothers about the benefits of breastfeeding their babies.
Events have been held across Kirklees in the drive to increase breastfeeding rates by new mothers.
Information packs were sent out to nurseries and playgroups during National Breastfeeding Awareness Week and there was also a breastfeeding information shop in Huddersfield’s Packhorse Centre.
Jayne Heley, of Kirklees Community Healthcare Services said: “Our aim is to encourage mums to breastfeed. it’s good for them and their babies and it’s so convenient. Everyone does not find it easy – it’s a skill that has to be learnt – and many women can feel discouraged if it doesn’t work at first. This week was about giving women the support and advice they need to breastfeed successfully.”
