Crosland Moor eviction leaves giant mess in its wake
TROUBLESOME tenants have left a giant mess in their wake.
Residents at Row Street, Crosland Moor, have complained about a rat-infested mound of rubbish in a nearby yard.
It is thought a family was evicted from their house after damage was caused to the property.
Since then an unknown landlord has stripped the house leaving a pile of discarded furniture, mattresses and clothes in the back yard.
Now neighbours say the rubbish has been there for five weeks despite pleas to the landlord and the council to remove it.
And rats have been seen scurrying through the tip, residents say.
While homeowners are responsible for disposing of rubbish, a council can obtain a court order demanding they clear up the mess.
A landlord can be fined if they fail to comply with the order.
A council may also clear the mess and bill the landlord for the work.
