Brighouse friends host summer ball in memory of Shannen Harker

A GROUP of girls were left devastated when their best friend died in a car crash.

Shannen Harker was just 15 when she tragically died in Brighouse in 2008 along with her dad Stephen Rushworth.

Her friends Alice Enderby, Jessica Bilinski, Erika Leadbeater and Shoni Gale were determined to do something to keep her memory alive.

So they’ve formed the Charity Angels in a bid to raise money for worthy causes.

The Angels were friends with Shannen (pictured) when they were all pupils at Rastrick High School.

Since her death they have already raised £3,000 in a sponsored walk and at a fashion show.

And now they’re hosting a Summer Ball in aid of the Joseph Salmon Trust and the West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust.

Alice, 17, of Brighouse, said: “We want to do something every year to keep Shannen’s memory alive.

“So many people knew her and we want to do something in her memory which helps other people.

“Her family are coming along on the night and are very supportive of it.

“The Joseph Salmon Trust really helped her family, so it’s our way of thanking them too.”
