Crop circle appears at Huddersfield's Castle Hill

CASTLE Hill has been visited by aliens – or practical jokers.

A crop circle has appeared in a field below the Huddersfield landmark this week.

The circle is clearly visible in the fields below Lumb Lane, which runs across the bottom of the landmark hill.

For some people, the mysterious patterns are evidence that aliens have visited.

But to many others, the presence of crop circles merely demonstrates that someone has too much time on their hands.

But Slaithwaite woman Lynda Haigh, who spotted a possible crop circle several days ago near Hartshead, has a third theory about the Castle Hill crop circle.

Mrs Haigh, who is training to be a priestess, believes crop circles are caused by ley lines – routes between historic sites.

She said: “My understanding is that crop circles are formed by energy from the Earth. Castle Hill is on a convergence of ley lines.

“The ley lines are lines of energy from the Earth, so maybe the energy around Castle Hill has woken up.

“The energy may come from the core of the Earth.”

Mrs Haigh, who lives on Tudor Street in Slaithwaite, is training to be a priestess with a group called Earthheart.

The group is organising a Lammas – a traditional harvest celebration – at Slaithwaite Community Centre on Sunday, August 8.
