Eliza Doolittle joins Roll Deep and Gabriella Cilmi at festival in The Park

RISING star Eliza Doolittle is the latest chart act added to the Festival in the Park.

The British singer-songwriter will join Roll Deep and Gabriella Cilmi on stage in Dewsbury’s Crow Nest Park next Sunday at the big free festival.

The pop acts come 24 hours after The Magic of Motown, featuring the music of The Supremes, Four Tops, Stevie Wonder and many others.

Eliza, 22, is tipped to be the next big thing.

Her previous single Skinny Genes charted at number 22 and her latest single Pack Up, is now at number 12 in Radio 1’s official UK top 40.

Last weekend, she was at the T In The Park festival in Scotland.

Doolittle, whose self-titled album was released yesterday, praised the resurgent “girl power” in the UK music industry.

She said: “There are a lot more female artists out there now and I think that’s brilliant because it hasn’t been like this before and its great that there’s more girl power.

“It’s been really good so far and it was really nice to see everybody smiling and happy despite the rainy weather in Scotland.

“I haven’t been to that many festivals before, but I really like it when I have been, so I want to be more of a festival girl in the future. As long as you’ve got wellies, it’s no worries.”

She is the granddaughter of Sylvia Young, founder of the Sylvia Young Theatre School in London, and originally found fame as a child actress.

Now taking the music industry by storm, Eliza will entertain the crowds with her unique style at the free festival next weekend.
